Hi Everyone!

Apologies first. I vowed to keep you and the website updated and have been totally remiss in doing so. I truly appreciate the emails and your kind words. Sorry I’ve been out of touch for so long.

If it seems like I disappeared for awhile — I did. After working for the past 20 years (and loving every minute of it!) I wanted time for myself. I’ve spent the majority of this past year traveling, resting and just enjoying quality “me” time. I resurfaced to take part in a few autograph shows (meeting fans is always SO much fun for me) but otherwise just enjoyed my time off.

Work beckoned once again and I am excited to tell you that I am currently on location in Bulgaria filming LAKE PLACID 4 on beautiful Lake Iskar. For fans of LAKE PLACID 3 you’ll be glad to hear that “Reba” is back — and she’s as “bad-ass” as ever! Joining me in the cast are Elisabeth Rohm (loved her in LAW & ORDER and HEROES), the “yummy” and talented Paul Nicholls (BRIDGET JONES’ DIARY and EASTENDERS) and “Freddy Kreuger” himself, the one and only Robert Englund! Our director is Don Michael Paul who has a great vision for the film. From what I’ve seen so far I think you’re really going to enjoy LAKE PLACID 4.

Just like the great director Alfred Hitchcock, who always included a cameo of himself in each of his films, watch for our director Don to pop up briefly in the role of Deputy Glass. We all kidded with him that he was trying to steal the scene from the rest of us!

I don’t have an air date for LAKE PLACID 4 but I would guess to look for it sometime in 2012 on the SyFy Channel with DVD release internationally soon after.

I just found out that my last film YEREN has gotten a name change and will be airing under the new title RAGE OF THE YETI. Look for it starring David Chokachi and myself airing November 12, 2011 on the SyFy Channel.

To all of you, have a wonderful upcoming holiday season. I wish you all love and light.

XOXO,

Yancy

Hey Fans,

I am very excited for tonight I am attending the premiere of the long awaited James Cameron film AVATAR. One of my best friends, Janace Tashjian, is the assistant producer and we are each others dates. Jim Cameron and I first met when he approached me at the SAG Awards years ago (in which Janace was my date then as well) and said, “You hit my wife with a tire iron!” I had no idea what he was talking about until he explained to me that he was recently married to Suzy Amis, my co star in THE EX. I laughed remembering the scene where I do indeed attack her. So, last year when I went to visit the set of AVATAR, Jim invited me to watch him film a segment in which … well, all of you will have to see it for yourself. But I was awed as Jim moved his camera around the stage and the perfection with which he filmed. I signed a contract stating I would not divulge anything I witnessed that day, but let me just say what I saw was incredible, the likes of which I’ve never even heard of being done before. Everyone MUST see this film.

Sorry this is a short entry but gotta go get dolled up!

When I got the call to do a cameo appearance in the film “Kickass “I was very excited. First, because it was a great character role in a very cool script starring Nicholas Cage (although sadly, none of my scenes were with him). Secondly, it was based on a comic book, and I hadn’t worked on an adaptation of a comic since “Witchblade.” I love working on those characters. And thirdly, I was finally going to London. I say “finally,” because ever since I was 20 years old I had wanted to go. I remember my parents got together with my grandparents to give me about $2,000 as a graduation present to enable me to travel to London. After I graduated, I got a job almost immediately in a “Law and Order” segment and then started working on MANN AND MACHINE soon after. I never was able to take the trip.

With all the traveling I’ve done for work and pleasure in my life, it wasn’t until November of last year that I first set foot in this incredible city. I was to be there one week; costumes and make-up one day and filming for the three days following…. thus having three full, glorious days to explore. Even better, I was to do only one scene a day out of the four that were scripted so I would hopefully have the time and the chance to prepare and to do some really good work.

The company booked me on an overnight flight that arrived in Heathrow at about 9:30 am. Most of the flight was spent going over the new rewrites I had gotten on the script, but my excitement of going to London took over. I ended up pouring over tourist books and highlighting the places I wanted to see while visiting: Notting Hill, the Palace, the London Bridge –these were only some of the choices. I got very little sleep on the way over.

I arrived at the hotel at around noon and had barely taken off my jacket off when I received a call from the production office that a car was waiting for me downstairs to take me to the set for hair and make-up tests. Clearly, they weren’t wasting any time. I took a five-minute shower and headed for the elevator. Driving to the set, which was in a suburb approximately 45 minutes away, I was thrilled to see the city streets whizzing by. I couldn’t wait to see it all.

For the next five days, I was picked up early from my hotel, was driven the same route to the set, was put in full costume and make-up, and then I would spend the next 10 hours waiting to go to shoot my scenes. I ended up going in front of camera the final day I was supposed to shoot. All my scenes were shot back to back which was fine; the unforeseen delays of production are ironically expected and definitively universal.

I was scheduled to leave the very next day, which happened to be Halloween. This is the one holiday that affects my travels into NYC and Greenwich Village where I live. There is a huge and wonderful parade that occurs on this night, a parade that blocks off traffic and most of the streets. Thankfully, they agreed to let me fly home the following day, November 1st.

Realizing I only had one day to actually sightsee, I … got on a tour bus! Yes, I admit it. I bought a ticket and went on the bus. And it was absolutely one of the best times I had ever had. As we drove past Notting Hill, The Palace, Kensington Park, I saw the Eye Ferris wheel and decided I had to ride it. And it was here where I got to see everything I had wanted to see. On top of the Eye. Not how I envisioned it all these years, but then again, life is so rarely how I think it will be.

Sometimes it unfolds beautifully.

I have been reading all these wonderful comments on my webpage and I wanted to thank all of you for your support and for taking the time to write to me. I see that in many of the comments you are expressing how pleased you are at meeting me at autograph conventions. I am really honored that you feel this way and in turn, I wanted to share with you how much fun these gatherings are for me also and how much I personally look forward to doing them.

I love to travel. This is a very good thing considering most of my job depends on it. I often find myself filming in all these absolutely fascinating places – some magnificent, some not – but always fascinating. However, when I am filming, I often work 15 hours a day depending on the project. Given that, I can be on location somewhere and never really get to talk to any locals or to see any of the area. The only people that I see are the people on the set that are working with me on the project. When I travel for a convention however, I get to meet people from that area (and thanks to all of you who travel long distances) and I get to hear firsthand about what it’s like to live there. It is wonderful to hear how so many of you are so proud of the State you live in and to tell me what I must do, visit or eat before I leave for home. I always try to do at least one or two of these suggestions. It’s fun to know what’s out there.

One of the other reasons I love to attend these conventions and meet fans of mine is a purely a selfish one. When you work in the theatre you get immediate responses from the audience. They either applaud or they laugh or they can show you that they don’t like the play. But in film and TV, the crew’s job is to tell me if I’m in focus or if we are moving on to the next scene. So I rarely get any feedback. I feel so fortunate when people take time out of their busy lives and approach me, either when I’m walking around in New York or I’m at a convention, to tell me that they like a certain film or television show of mine. Nine times out of ten, they start off with an apology. “I’m sorry to bother you but I really enjoy your work.” Bother me? It is never, and I repeat, NEVER a bother. So, thank you again for the verbal support and compliments over the years, whether it be at the conventions or on the street. It is always much appreciated. I enjoy meeting all of you as much as you seem to enjoy meeting me.

I look forward to meeting more of you in the future. Until then, health and happiness to you all. See you soon!
